On 27 November 2018, AJAR Timor-Leste launches “Chega no Justisa Tranzisionál: Teaching Materials for Higher Education in Timor-Leste” with Timorese educational institutions and civil society partners, including Universidade da Paz, Universidade Nacional Timor Lorosa’e, Centro Nacional Chega!, and Asosiasaun Chega! ba ita.
The Tetun-language manual assists educators in higher education to nurture historical memories related to conflict and peace in Timor-Leste. Structured in modules, this manual can be used as material for students, faculty members, as well as human rights practitioners. This manual can be catered to a variety of learning needs and resource capacities.
With the 20th anniversary of East Timor’s referendum in 2019, this manual reminds the Timorese society, particularly the young generation, of the nation’s struggles and commitment to prevent mass human rights violations from recurring. This manual will be used by Timorese educators in universities, as well as in AJAR Timor-Leste’s human rights school curriculum for young changemakers.
