Yearning for Our Rights and Longing for Our Homeland: Rohingya Youth Respond to Atrocities (Vol.2, Popular version)” has been published to demonstrate the primary findings and specific recommendations that were derived from a Participatory Action Research (PAR). Activities related to the PAR took place from October 2023 to April 2024. It should be noted that this report is a popular version of a previous research report that was produced from another PAR (please see https://asia-ajar.org/resources/books-research/yearning-for-our-rights-and-our-homeland/).
The PAR aimed to deepen understanding of how Rohingya youths living in the refugee camps in Bangladesh respond to and recover from atrocities in Myanmar, and to support their capacity development and raise awareness of the root cause of these atrocities. Rohingya youths were engaged in storytelling, which enhanced their facilitation and listening abilities, as well as their understanding of human rights and justice. Participatory tools were used to facilitate discussions regarding human rights, justice, and atrocity response by 25 youth volunteers who were first trained by AJAR. Afterwards, in an effort to facilitate dialogue and document stories, they communicated with 69(34 female and 35 male) of their community-level participants.
This book is easily accessible for presentation at various levels, including local, regional, and international events, such as conferences, seminars, summits, and meetings of civil society organizations (CSOs), in order to advocate for the Rohingya rights. Rohingya volunteers and CSOs can also use this to carry out their activities and raise awareness among members of their community.
