In 2018, AJAR has continued its participatory action research with its Papuan partners, including the Institute for the Study and Advocacy of Human Rights in Papua (Biak City and North Biak); Justice, Peace, and the Integrity of Creation of the Evangelical Christian Church in Papua (Jayapura District); Advocacy Institute for Women’s Care (Merauke District); and Foundation for Women’s Voices of Wamena (Wamena City).
This research involved 86 Papuan community members (74 women and 12 men). Participants ranged from farmers, fishermen, teachers, labourers, shrimp paste producers, sand miners, homemakers, social service providers, church workers, civil servants, and village officials. The findings of the participatory action research have been collected in a photo book, I Have a Story: Challenges and Strengths of Papuan Women in Quotes.
