Jakarta, 31 March 2022 – AJAR alongside other NGOs in Indonesia sent three submissions for the 41st Session of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) of the United Nations (UN) Human Rights Council (4th cycle). The UPR is a mechanism established by the UN to put member states under scrutiny for their performance to uphold human rights in their respective border—conducted once in 4.5 years.
The three submissions by AJAR and coalitions put light on several issues in Indonesia: ongoing impunity, human rights situations in West Papua region, and worsening violence against women in Papua.
