Dili, 16 June 2021 – Together with ACbit and FONGTIL, AJAR hosted a virtual training with the theme “Advocacy for the Elimination of Violence against Women and Girls” to aid local civil society organisations to use new and creative means to combat gender-based violence across Timor-Leste.
26 women from local NGOs who work on advocacy of gender-based violence attended the training. This course provides key materials, and participates by local and Indonesian speakers to help Timor-Leste-based civil society organizations improve their advocacy strategies. Participants learned about utilising social media for advocacy, including up-to-date strategies to maximise the impact of their advocacy on a local, national, regional and global level in gender transformation.
As social media continues to be an inseparable part of our daily lives, it is crucial for NGOs and civil society organizations to use this opportunity to expand their advocacy strategies to reach out to a larger and more diverse audience and make a stronger and more sustainable impact.
