AJAR and its partners held a national gathering of all women victims involved in the research project. This event was held in September 2014 in Northern Burma/Myanmar and was attended by 41 participants – 26 women victims from three areas, 6 Burma/Myanmar local researchers, 3 AJAR staff, and 6 external facilitators.
AJAR and its partners facilitated a process whereby the participants could build trust, understanding, and solidarity among themselves. We learnt about self-care techniques, aiming to help survivors to deal with stress and difficulties. The participants had an opportunity to share their individual stories and found support, courage and inspiration from each other. The participants also prepared art and theatrical performances.
