“House of Peace” is the ninth workbook in AJAR’s Unlearning Impunity series, developed in partnership with the Transitional Justice Asia Network (TJAN) and supported by the European Union. This module is designed as a practical, participatory resource for grassroots facilitators, educators, and civil society groups working in post-conflict or fragile contexts.
The workbook equips practitioners with step-by-step activities to support communities in reflecting on their histories, understanding the roots of conflict, and building inclusive, locally grounded peace efforts. Drawing on experiences from Aceh, Timor-Leste, Solomon Islands, Thailand, and other regions in Asia-Pacific, this module offers adaptable tools rooted in transitional justice principles and human rights values.
Participants are guided through creative, dialogue-based methods to explore conflict dynamics, the role of victims and survivors, and the intersection of peacebuilding with justice, equity, and social inclusion. Special emphasis is placed on the role of women, youth, and marginalized groups as active agents in shaping peaceful societies.
Whether used as a standalone module or as part of a longer series, “House of Peace” promotes collective understanding, encourages critical reflection, and helps communities take tangible steps toward justice, healing, and sustainable peace.
