Association (SITHA), had facilitated two trauma-healing workshops in 2022. In the National Seminar on 27-28 February 2024 in Honiara, participants shared the stories of survivors and community peacebuilders, which were also reflected in an exhibit of photographs and artwork.
The Participatory Action Research (PAR) report published by SITHA and AJAR, titled “Voices of Survivors and Peacebuilders in Solomon Islands”, was launched at the seminar. This PAR Report was the result from the PAR workshops in three provinces, involving 68 women and 32 men. AJAR President Patrick Burgess stressed how the transformative experiences cited by the workshop participants began by simply acknowledging the various ways trauma affects daily lives. Participants also discussed the TRC report and how its findings and recommendations can contribute to peace, justice and healing.
