This research report explores the role of young people in peacebuilding efforts in Timor-Leste, focusing on martial arts and ritual arts groups\u2014organizations that have historically been linked to both conflict and resilience. Through participatory action research (PAR) and focus group discussions, the study examines the motivations behind youth involvement in these groups, the triggers of violence, and the structural challenges young people face, including unemployment, access to education, and political marginalization. While these groups have sometimes been associated with violence, the report highlights their potential as platforms for leadership, discipline, and community engagement. It provides key recommendations for policymakers, civil society, and community leaders to support youth in non-violent conflict resolution, social inclusion, and nation-building initiatives. This report offers insights into youth agency, justice, and sustainable peace in Timor-Leste.
